  • ANOTHER Reason to Hate Wal-Mart

Besides the fact that they routinely violate fair trade agreements; steal from their own employees; withhold health insurance from new hires; oppress third world workers; discriminate against female employees (this made them the object of the largest class-action suit in history); and suppress freedom of expression by only purchasing music for sale that their tiny corporate minds approve of.  On an average day, three new lawsuits are filed against this bloated corporate monster.

As you may know, they also routinely violate federal fair hiring practice  laws by suppressing the rights of their workers to unionize.  They are robber barons equal to anything the excesses of the nineteenth century produced.  Some years ago, when meat cutters in one of their stores came close to unionizing, they fired all the meat packers.  Now their corporate evil has gone beyond even that.

Workers at a Wal-mart store in Canada were on the verge of signing a union contract, so the bastards closed the entire store, throwing some 200 people out of work.

Michael Fraser, national director of UFCW Canada, said in a written statement ,”Once again, Wal-mart has decided it is above the law and that the only laws that count are their rules.”

Just when I thought that Wal-mart had sunk as low as it could go–they even admitted to tampering with computer records of employees’ hours so that they would work, say, 50 hours and only get paid for 30–they manage to sink even lower.  I could just vomit.

  • Enjoy your Thursday!

  • wow. I knew that since Sam died that lots has changed, like that they are delaying payment to their merchants….essentially just being a consignment shop cuz the stuff is sold before the merchant is ever paid. Too bad. Most merchants can’t really do much about it. I didn’t know much of the stuff you have mentioned. interesting.

Too bad we have a capitalistic society huh? <tongue in cheek>

  • Some tell us this is the price of freedom. Dividends are in arrears. If we race it’s on a track. To and from our fears.

  • It seems to me that WalMart spends so much energy on negativity it is frightening…evil actually…unfair…it is just awful…they never cease to amaze me…but they shouldn’t I should know better by now…thanx for the input…I feel a little nauseaous…huggs…Sassy

  • I hate to say it but this is probably just the tip of the iceburg.

  • Hey ArmsMerchant,

So here’s the deal. I’m thinking of getting two Cold Steel Recon 1′s, in April. Let me know what you can do. Otherwise, if you can let me know about a Gerber Silver Trident and Gerber-Emerson Alliance (for future purchases), I’d appreciate that too.

Again, you can post back on my guestbook, or on totse, or feel free to e-mail me at davidwen.zhu@gmail.com

If you’re unavaliable or want to change communications or something, please let me know.

Thanks and have a nice day,

    David W. Zhu

  • finally someone who thinks of walmart in the same way i do.  i heard about that store closing and somehow it didn’t surprise me.  it always irks me that walmart claims to be this wonderful family and community friendly store yet what they do and how they treat their employess is in direct opposition to those claims.  how low will they go?  the possibilities are endless it seems…
